Standby Generator 101
(Things to know before you buy):
Generators are heavy (500-1500
pounds).
Please make provisions to
move the generator
to its final installation site after it comes off the delivery truck. Many
times this will require a pallet jack,
forklift, or a piece of heavy machinery.
These
generators are meant for permanent installation; not
following installation instructions in the owner’s manual may
void your
warranty and cause personal injury and/or property damage. Please
see manufacturer’s websites to
download owner’s manuals: www.guardiangenerators.com
; www.wincogen.com
Wiring
and gas piping may require permits from your local
city or county.
Local and National
building codes dictate and supercede any information given in the
owner’s
manuals.
We recommend verifying that
your contractors are licensed, bonded, and insured.
Any
information our technical or customer service team gives
is based upon product knowledge we have gained during our 16+ years in
the
generator business.
We are not familiar
with every jurisdiction’s local building codes and can only
offer our expertise
on how the installations are “usually” done.
Please contact your local
inspection office if you have any questions
regarding installations or specific building codes.
To
offer you the best possible pricing and service, our
generators are usually shipped factory direct to you. The
shipping lead times we give via email or
phone are APPROXIMATE, as given to us by the factory. Actual
ship dates can vary.
Please email us for shipping
updates after
you have placed your order.
You will be
responsible for all shipping costs (from the factory to
you—and from you back
to the factory) for canceling an order after your generator has shipped
from
the factory.
Please read our shipping
and return policies before placing an order.
